The Rim Rock Ranch is located in Northern Catron County , however one section of deeded land and the Headquarters are located in Valencia County. It is 80 miles SW of Albuquerque and North of Highway 60 between Datil and Pie Town, New Mexico.
The Size is a total of 7630 Acres ( 1040 Deeded acres, 3090 BLM, 320 State, 3180 uncontrolled). The carrying capacity is 80-100 cows yearlong depending on annual precipitation. The elevation ranges from 7300-7900 ft. The terrain is mostly tree-covered with ponderosa pine, red cedar, pinon, and juniper trees. There are several beautiful rock formations, canyons, and bluffs and the Wild Horse Canyon and the Rio Salado Canyon all cross the ranch from different directions. Annual precip. is 9-12". The headquarters well pumps 2-3gpm. Another livestock well isi 120'deep and pumps approx 16 gpm. Power is provided by Socorro Elec. Coop and phone is supplied by Western NM Telephone Co. HUNTING, HUNTING, HUNTING: in 2006-2007 owner received 2 mature bull muzzleloader permits, 1 either-sex bow, 1 antlerless-bow permit. There are wild turkeys,bear,cougars, mule deer, bobcats, and coyotes on this scenic ranch. Excellent pipe shipping pens, portable working chute, pipe corrals with rubber tire dringer which pumps 3 gpm, are many of the improvements. |
